hey friends and family!!!
gosh i am just so thankful for the overwhelming amount of love and support from everyone around me. i could not be more excited for this next chapter of my life, i know the lord is going to do big things. prayer is our biggest weapon and i am so incredibly grateful for the all of those praying over me and praying that the lord will work through me.
for those of you who are new here, i’m lily pittman and i’m from greensboro north carolina. the lord has given me a really big heart for serving him. throughout high school, younglife has been such a huge part of my life and of my faith. younglife is a ministry for high school students whose mission is to introduce adolescents to jesus christ and help them grow in their faith. this past summer, i lived in colorado for one month at a younglife camp, serving food to the high school students who came. it was such an incredible opportunity and it really blossomed within me a passion for ministry.
through a lot of prayer, i am blessed to announce that the lord has called me to serve on a missions trip through world race for the 9 months following my high school graduation. during this time in south africa, eswatini, indonesia, and guatemala i will have the opportunity to lift up his name to people who may have never gotten to hear the good news before through partnerships with local churches, childcare, community outreach, and so many more ministries with the goal of spreading his name to the ends of the earth.
during my bible study this week with some of my younglife girls, we studied 2 corinthians 4:7-12. i wanted to share these verses here in hopes that the lord may stir something up in your heart and you would know that even when the world is knocking us down over and over again, god is there to pick you up every single time and he will never ever fail.
”but we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from god and not from us. we are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. we always carry around in our body the death of jesus, so that the life of jesus may also be revealed in our body. for we who are alive are always being given over to death for jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. so then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.“
my sweet sweet aunt who is just such an inspiration to me is a missionary in spain. at the end of her weekly newsletters, she always adds “praise and prayer” items. so here are mine!
prayer- pray that the lord would continue to bless this ministry and give me wisdom.
prayer- pray that the fundraising process will go smoothly.
prayer- pray that the lord would work through me and that many people would come to know jesus.
praise- praise for younglife and the blessing to my life that it has been.
praise- praise for the mentors and prayer warriors that i have all around me and continue to help me grow in my faith.
praise- praise that we serve a god who provides everything that we need and more.
praise- praise that even though death is at work in us, life is at work in you.
i can’t wait to see what this chapter holds for me! thank you for being here.
lots of love, lily
